After a successful week of sampling at Long Point Provincial Park, the BIObus was off to Bruce Peninsula National Park. The Bruce Peninsula divides Georgian Bay from the main basin of Lake Huron, and has some very unique aquatic ecosystems where interesting species can be found. Full of Aspiration
So we’ve made it to Kootenay National Park! I hope everyone is enjoying the blogs the crew and I have been posting about our grand trip. We have been bunked in a house at Kootenay Crossing. Bark Beetles and Wildfires
Hello again! After taking down all our traps in Burnt Cabin Bog Ecological Reserve, we packed up and drove for two days up to Kluane National Park and Reserve. While the drive was long there was plenty of scenery to see along the way. While driving North on the Stewart-Cassiar highway, we passed through a region of forest where two wildfires had recently occurred, in 2010 and 2011. Continue reading “Bark Beetles and Wildfires”
Outreach and Odonates
Hello again! Today was our second last day on Pender Island, and we spent it mostly doing outreach in various places. Our time at the park has been fantastic, and I would have to say that it is my favourite park so far. The small island community of about 3,000 people has shown itself to be friendly and trustworthy.
